全景武陵源
从历史上来说，武陵源古属边地，当时交通闭塞、舟车隔绝、人迹罕至而鲜为外人所知。后因常德地区旧称武陵郡。秦以前，今武陵源所在地属黔中郡，从汉代起很长的历史时期，曾归武陵郡管辖。民国时期先属武陵道，后分属湖南省第二、第四、第八行政督察区。
